The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) is the nation’s largest state advocacy group of its kind, providing more than 2,500 engaged and diverse members a forum for exchanging ideas and information about the education of gifted learners.  Chartered in 1978, this non-profit organization leads the way in creating and offering meaningful resources to benefit the gifted community. TAGT’s mission is to connect and empower educators and parents to meet the unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students, and it carries that mission out by providing relevant, innovative educational services, programs and resources.

Level 2 / Bishop

Gatton AcademyThe Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky is a state-supported residential high school for juniors and seniors interested in advanced careers in science, technology, engineering and math. Funding ensures housing, tuition and meals come at no charge to families to provide equal access and opportunity to all Kentucky students.

The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) is a two-week residential program at the University of Northern Colorado consisting of high-interest, hands-on, brains-on courses for gifted, talented, and creative students entering grades 5 through 10. Courses are developed by specialists in gifted education and/or in specialized content areas as part of the university’s Center for the Education and Study of Gifted, Talented, Creative Learners. Curriculum is developed and differentiated according to basic principles of gifted education, providing a unique opportunity for enrichment not ordinarily possible in regular classrooms.

Since 1979, the Gifted Development Center, a service of the Institute for the Study of Advanced Development, has served as a resource center for developmentally advanced children and their parents, and for gifted individuals of all ages. GDC provides in-depth assessment, counseling, consulting services, and innovative materials. This world-renowned center combines true expertise and experience with gifted issues and the unique perspective of looking at giftedness from the inside–as advanced awareness and emotional intensity–as well as often being out-of-sync with the rest of the world. GDC has helped over 5,000 families better understand and nurture their children’s development. Parents have learned about their own giftedness as well. For more information on specific testing options and other services, click here.
